Author notes: I always wondered why (Ibara) Mayaka couldn’t just publish manga in the Kotenbu anthology.
Summary: In which Oreki narrowly misses Chitanda’s curiosity.

“Oh, Starry Night,” Ibara says, glancing over Oreki’s shoulder as he idly flips through an old anthology. He hums, not really listening, but Chitanda perks up from where she’s reading her textbook by the window.

“In an old Classics Club anthology?” she asks, leaning over despite the distance.

“It’s an original piece using Van Gogh’s piece as a framing reference,” Ibara explains.

Despite Oreki’s expectations, Chitanda doesn’t burst into curiosity about the meaning of the piece. Instead, she turns to Ibara, eyes twinkling.

“Ibara-chan, you left the Manga Association, right? What about doing a short piece for the next anthology?”
