Summary: glimpses through the crowd

Jiashang catches a brief glimpse of Shizhen across the dance floor, before she disappears again in the throng of whirling bodies. He wants nothing more than to drop his current partner’s hand and shove his way through to her-- but he’d promised his father. He can’t openly love another woman, not with his fiancée’s investments on the line. Not until he secures a better deal for the Rong family business.

Until then, he watches for the flutter of Shizhen’s dress, the flash of her eyes when they catch his, as if they’re the only two people left in the world.
