Title: An Old Lady's Privilege
Fandom: Miss Marple
Rating: G
Length: 200 words
Summary: Just an old lady taking a nap - or is she?

“Ah, Aunt Jane,” Dermot Craddock said, as he walked into the hotel lounge. “I was hoping I might find you in here. Have you been sitting here for long?”

Miss Marple looked down at her knitting and then up at the grandfather clock which stood against one wall. “Well, let me think. I came in a little before half past three, because the waiter brought me a cup of tea about then. And it’s now five o’clock, so it must have been nearly an hour and a half. Why do you ask?”

“There were a couple in here who we’re rather interested in. I don’t suppose you heard anything they were saying, did you?”

“Oh yes, I think heard nearly everything. They were sitting just over there.” She pointed to a couple of armchairs not far away.

“But didn’t they notice you?”

“I’m sure they did. But you see, at my age, it’s not unusual to have a nap as you sit in an armchair, and I’m sure they thought that’s what I was doing. All I needed to do was listen with my eyes shut.”

“Excellent. Could you tell me what you heard?”

“Certainly. It was all very interesting.”
