Summary: Oliver has noticed someone following him to the coffee shop in the mornings. He comes to Wes for help.

Oliver needed to talk to someone, and he needed to talk to someone soon.

Preferably, someone who wasn’t going to run straight to Connor and tell him about the mysterious guy who had been following Oliver every day for the past two weeks on his morning runs to the coffee shop. That didn’t give him much pool to choose from, but when everyone left for class and the office got emptied apart from Wes, who stayed behind to prepare an exam, Oliver knew it had to be him.

“Wes, I need your help,” Oliver said, taking the seat across from him. “And before you ask, no, it’s not about Connor.”

Wes glanced up from his notes, flashing a tiny smile. “That’s reassuring. What’s up?”

Oliver leaned in, lowering his voice as if anyone could walk into their conversation. “Okay, so, you know how I go to that coffee shop on 4th Street every morning before coming to the campus?”

“Yeah, you said something about ‘the perfect latte art’. What about it?”

Grabbing one of Wes’ pens, Oliver started fidgeting. “I think… someone’s been following me there. I see them every single morning —at the same time, at the same table, always watching.”

Wes frowned, putting down his notes completely. “Are you sure they’re watching you? Or maybe… they just really like coffee?”

“Wes, I know how ridiculous it sounds!” Oliver threw his hands. “But I’m telling you, it’s not a coincidence. They sit there, barely touch their coffee, and just… linger. Watching me. It’s creepy! ”

With a wry face, Wes looked like he was starting to understand. “Okay, that is… strange. Have they done anything else? Like, tried to talk to you or follow you after?”

Oliver shook his head, realising that this person had not done anything else than stare at him. “No, nothing like that. But I’m so freaked out I haven’t told Connor, because he’d either laugh at me or spiral into full-on jealous mode. I kind of need a different approach.”

Knowingly, Wes nodded. “So, you came to me because you know I’m not going to bring it up over dinner, right?”

Oliver grinned slyly. “Exactly. You’re the only one who can handle this without spilling my drama to anyone.”

Wes sighed, but his expression was related. “Alright, Oliver. Let’s investigate. I’m too invested now. Tomorrow morning, I’ll come with you, and we’ll see if we can figure out who this mysterious coffee stalker is, how does that sound!”

“Thank you! I owe you a lifetime of free IT advice for this, Wes.”

“Isn’t it always free?” Wes chuckled.

“I mean… yeah,” Oliver realised. “Let me know if you need me to hack last year’s exam of whatever you’re studying!”

“Don’t worry about it. Worst case scenario, we just end up with really good lattes.”
