They thought they’d gated to the world the attack on earth would originate from, although what they’d hoped to achieve by doing that, O’Neill wasn’t entirely sure. How were four humans supposed to take on an entire Goa’uld planet with nothing but P90s, handguns, and the extra C4 they were packing? That turned out to be a moot point anyway, because here they were, not on a planet but on the bridge of a Goa’uld Ha’tak vessel, basically a mothership, loaded with fighters that would be launched against earth as soon as the ship reached orbit. Which might be sooner than anyone was expecting, judging by the speed at which they were travelling.

But they were here, aboard an enemy ship enroute to earth, and as serious as SG-1’s situation was, surely destroying an enemy ship from the inside had to be easier than destroying an enemy base on a planet under Goa’uld control that was probably teeming with the enemy. The first step had to be planting their C4 charges on anything that would go up with a big enough bang to inflict serious damage on the ship and its systems, and the control panel on the bridge seemed like a good candidate.

They’d come all this way hoping to find some means of preventing what Daniel had seen on the alternate version of earth, so they’d just have to hope they could stop the attack before it could begin, even if it would likely end up being a suicide mission. They owed earth at least that much, since in a way, it was their fault the attack was happening in the first place. If they’d never gone through the gate, drawing attention to the location of the lost planet of the Tau’ri, they wouldn’t be in this situation.

The End
