Evan was the bright spot in Tommy's day. He didn't care to admit it to anyone who asked what had him smiling like a loon, even when he was alone. They had their ups and downs, but there was never a point where Tommy felt like he needed to leave. Not since that rough patch around their six-month anniversary. Evan hadn't just taken the whole breaking up thing without talking about it. It had been a good thing, as neither of them actually wanted to break up. It had just been Tommy's insecurities rearing their ugly head, so they had talked about things.

The biggest thing was that Buck had started to come to Tommy's more since it was a place where Tommy really hadn't let him go to that often. Looking back on that night and especially now, Tommy could see why Evan asked Tommy to move in with him. 95% of everything they did together that involved one of their places took place at Evan's place by Tommy's choice. Tommy could have invited him over to his place when his shoulder had been messed up but Tommy had just taken them to Evan's place.

It wasn't that Tommy hadn't wanted Evan in his space; he just felt like there was an end date. He loved Evan, but the people who loved him left him. They both had issues with that, and that meant that they reared their heads at the worst time. They had both reared their heads that night. It had been a good thing that Evan had pumped the breaks and made Tommy talk about it.

Now, here they were three months later, and they were spending most of their time at Tommy's place because it was where Evan really liked to go. Tommy hadn't ever realized how much Evan didn't mind living at the loft, but he kind of hated it in its own way. It was a good place to live but not a place to call home.

"What?" Evan asked.

Tommy pushed off the bedroom door and headed toward the bed. He slipped under the covers again, and Evan cuddled into him, all warm and plaint.

"Just thinking how much you are a bright spot in my life, and not just because you keep the bed warm when I have to go and get breakfast started, but because I was the one who got hard first."

Evan laughed a little bit before he stretched on the bed. He shifted a little, and then he was the one starting to get hard as he rubbed on Tommy. Tommy waited and when Evan did nothing else, Tommy knew that it was just a reaction to his thoughts and being pressed to Tommy as much as he was. It was the kind of erection that they both could and would ignore a lot of the time.

"You are the one that started that game, Thomas Gabriel Kinard."

"I know that, but that doesn't mean that I have to like losing when it means getting out of bed where I was warm and comfy to go and throwing a casserole in the oven so we could have breakfast later."

"Is the timer set?"

"No," Tommy deadpanned. he was rewarded with a pinch to his side for his troubles. It felt really good, even if it hurt. It was the kind of thing that Tommy had never really gotten to the point of much before in his relationships.

"I think I want to go back to sleep," Evan said.

"Then roll over, and I'll spoon you."

"Not fork?"

Tommy couldn't see Evan's face, but he could see the way Evan's eyebrows waggled with the suggestion.

"If you want to fork, then we will have to clean up."

Evan groaned. He rolled over and let Tommy move to spoon him before he started to fall asleep again. Tommy knew that he was worn out with helping with Jee a lot, and while Tommy thought he was going to burn out, he would just support him. he had laid his worries out, but Evan had laid his out that with everything that had gone one, Maddie didn't trust a lot of people and the Lees were older and not able to be as helpful as they normally were. There was also preparing for the arrival of the baby, and that meant that once that happened, the Lees would be around a lot more. They were going to be the saving grace for Maddie after the baby was born.

"Though you all wet is something I do love," Evan said.

Tommy pinched his thigh before he rubbed his hand up and down his thigh to soothe it. This was the kind of happiness he loved, just existing with Evan.

---

Buck picked up his glass of wine and looked around the room, trying to find where Tommy had slipped off to. The event was one of those really stupid fundraisers for various foundations that the LAFD had going for injured firefighters. The goal wasn't stupid, but Buck hated getting dressed up and leered at by married women and more than a few married men. he had already been propositioned twice by a pair of ladies who wanted to take him to a coat closet to see if they could muss him. They had been old enough to be his mother, on the far side, not the near side. While Buck didn't mind older women, he didn't like older, married women.

Tommy had been invited to this as the shiny pilot for the night. Well, there were a few others, but none who had landed a bird as he had just two weeks ago after a harrowing rescue during an apartment building fire. There had been a lot of press coverage of that because there had been a sniper who had tried to take out the helicopter, which had turned everyone onto the fact the fire wasn't random and was arson with the aim of killing people. Tommy's face had been all over the news, and that was why he was there, the shiny toy that the LAFD was using to get more money from people for its purposes.

"You aren't chained to Tommy?" Hen asked as she slipped up beside him.

"No, Tommy was pulled away by his captain, and they were talking to a group of people, and I seemed to have lost sight of him."

"He was talking to a pair of men over by the dessert table the last I saw," Hen said.

Buck looked that way and could see the edge of Tommy's dress uniform now that he knew where to look. Tommy was being attentive to the people that he was talking to.

Remy was gone from Tommy as well, so at least when Evan slipped up beside him, it wouldn't be seen as anything too untoward.

"I can get you fifteen minutes," Hen said.

"What?" Buck asked as he tore his gaze away from Tommy and looked at his friend. "What do you mean?"

"You don't want to do a whole seven minutes in heaven?"

"Nah, we did that in the car on the way over here. The driver shut the divider between the front and the back and then turned on the music. I am not sure what he thought, but we took advantage of that without mussing each other up too much.

"And you are okay with being auctioned off?"

Buck made a face at that. Thankfully, the auction was for an event down the road and there was no random date where things could happen. The LAFD did try and set it self up not to have to deal with issues like that. Buck and Tommy were both on auction. There was a mess of other people from other stations as well, the ones who gave themselves up willingly. When Tommy had been asked to be theone from Harbor, Buck had offered to be the one from the 118 to make sure that at least they were at the event together, even if they didn't get to go together.

"I'm okay with it. I get to see him like this again, and even if he is with another person there for the event, the money is going to a good cause. Also, we signed paperwork that the people we are auctioned to are not allowed to touch us in a sexual way. If they don't hold to it, I'm going to report them."

Hen laughed. She tucked her arm into the crook of Buck's and they headed for where Tommy was.

Tommy had called him his bright spot a few weeks ago, and Evan hadn't thought much about it, but he couldn't think about anything else as he saw Tommy right now. He always looked for him when he was thinking about him and missed him when he was gone. There was nothing else to call him but his bright spot, his love, his partner, and his boyfriend. There were a lot of names to call him, and he loved every single one of them.

"The Buck of a few years ago would have never allowed this," Hen said.

"Yes, he would have. If Taylor had been the one being auditioned off, I wouldn't have cared, same with Abby. I'm not that possessive."

Hen nodded in agreement, too.

"I'm secure in our feelings, and that's all that matters."

"Is it?" Hen asked. They stopped by Tommy.

"Yes," Buck said.

"Ah, Marion, I was just telling you about my wonderful boyfriend, and here he is along with his teammate, Hen Wilson, one of the best paramedics that the LAFD has in her employ."

Buck smiled at Tommy, and Tommy's smile lit up the room. This was happiness. This was love.
