Emily excuses herself from the inane drivel of the older man seeking more favor with her mother. That's all these people do: throw extravagant events to show off their money and to schmooze with others like themselves. They don't care about everyday people; they only care about their own reputations. She wishes she could raise her middle fingers to every politician at this event, including her mother, but she has since grown from the consequences of her rebellious teenage actions.

Emily makes her way over to the bar, regretting that she can't get as drunk as she would at a girl's night with JJ and Garcia. She would much rather be bonding with the only members of the BAU, and her life if she's honest, who make her feel like she matters, but she is here at her mother's insistent request. To avoid her mother's wrath once in private, Emily must grin and bear it.
