Pepper watched those small hands as Morgan used her children’s tools to make a plastic robot. The dexterous little fingers were already rough and scarred from making things when she sneaked out to Tony’s workshop in the garage. Pepper knew it could be dangerous, but she didn’t have the heart to stop the child. She’d spent her entire adult life trying to stop Tony, and look where that got her.

Morgan was so much like him. She had his dark good looks and his hands with those elegant little fingers touching everything in sight. She had his intelligence and stubbornness as well. She also had the ability to charm anyone she met, just like her father.

Pepper sighed. “Time to get ready for bed, little one.”

“Can I get a real blow torch like Daddy’s? Glue won’t hold the metal robot I’m making in the garage.”

“We’ll see if Uncle Rhodie thinks it’s okay. He’ll have to help you use it.” Morgan was making a metal robot? That was new.

Morgan held her hand up and intertwined her fingers with Pepper’s as they went to put on her pajamas and brush her teeth.

“Are you sure I can’t try on your helmet again?” Morgan asked moments later as Pepper tucked her in.

“Maybe someday, Morgan. Maybe someday."
