Sam let herself into Daniel’s apartment with the key he gave her years ago for emergencies.

“You know how you said just don’t ask for a photo when we did the tour.

“Yeah.”

Daniel held a scuffed and slightly ripped shoebox. “When I got home I had a thought and found this at the back of the closet.”

“What’s in it?”

Opening the lid, an array of photos, some old and fading others new and bright filled the box. “Photos, of all of us. On base, at events, off world.”

“This one of us at my wedding is my favourite.”
