Dawn turned off the TV at the end of Dawson’s Creek. “Hey, did you have school proms?”
“We had balls,” said Spike. “Highly coveted social events that required gentlemen to obey strict rules of etiquette. And allowed them to practice their dancing, polish their conversation skills, and meet eligible young ladies.”
“Really?” asked Dawn, sitting on the floor next to Spike with her bowl of popcorn. “Did you go?”
“I sort of had to.”
She chuckled. “I can’t picture you as a gentleman.”
“I worked hard to get that tommyrot out of my system. I’ll take that as a compliment.”
