Summary: Alice is not a pacifist. Not unless you stretch the definition of it


Alice couldn’t believe what she’d heard.

“Full offense. But say another word and I’m gonna deck you”

Clara blinked, looking almost disbelieving. “You? Deck me?” she shook her head in both amusement and confusion. “Since when do you even deck people, I thought you were a pacifist?”

Alice could see why she thought that. She’d worked very hard to be kind and gentle, and as non-offensive as possible. This didn’t however, mean that she wanted peace at all costs. “I’m a pacifist in the same way Itachi Uchiha is a pacifist.”

“I’ve never met that Itachi Uchiha, but I know pacifism and decking people don’t usually go together.”

Clara’s voice was so laden with sarcasm it was actually grating to Alice’s ears. As she bit her lips to try and restrain herself, Alice saw Xavier coming in the distance, and knew she didn’t have much time to get to the end of this. Xavier was an actual pacifist, if a maliciously compliant one, and their way of dealing with this situation wouldn’t satisfy her.

“Apologise for what you said earlier,” she said, slower this time. “Or I’m going to deck you.”

Clara crossed her arms, and Alice knew this wouldn’t come to a peaceful end. “What I said was the truth and I’ve got nothing to apologize for. If you can’t stand to hear the truth, then that’s not my fault. You need to toughen up, the world won’t cater to you all the time.”

Alice closed her eyes, breathed in, and opened them up again. And on that occasion, she chose violence.

“Your parents kidnapped you,” she said, watching that bombshell land via the confused anger on Clara’s face. “Not for any purpose but their own selfishness. Your ‘aunt’ didn’t die accidentally in childbirth, and your grandparents didn’t cut ties for no good reason.”

The confused anger was now veering into actual anger, but Alice didn’t stop, words pouring out of her mouth faster as she let the Knowledge take hold. “Your best friend is being paid to hang out with you, your sister didn’t disappear when you were 4, and that ‘birthmark’ you have on the juncture of your hip was actually made by someone you think is trustworthy.”

Alice barely managed to finish her sentence before the fist smashed into her face, but she didn’t even try to avoid it. She staggered, glad she’d managed to move her head and let the blow land on her cheek, then quickly ducked into a defensive ball as Clara unfurled a series of blows.

“Hey HEY!”

All too quickly, the blows stopped and she heard a body fall to the ground. She could hear frantic mutterings and felt Xavier’s hand pull her up even as Clara kept shouting obscenities.

“Ask your parents about Selena, and look at their reactions!” she managed to shout through bloodied teeth as she was pulled away. The pull of Knowledge was fully gone now but she knew the words to be true. “You’ll know I’m not lying!”

“Alice, full offense, but what the hell was that??”

Xavier was dabbing at her nose, and their face was full of both worry and incomprehension. Alice breathed with some difficulty, nose not broken but hurting all the same.

“I decked her with the truth. If she didn’t want to hear it, she should have kept quiet.”

Opinions were divided on Itachi Uchiha’s brand of pacifism, but Alice saw a little of herself in him. She would fight tooth and nail for the peace of those she wanted to protect. Whether they appreciated it or not.
