in the back of the cop car Gus looks at the trees speeding past, covered in snow. the cuffs around his wrists are tight and, shit, they're starting to cut off his circulation.

when they reach the station, the lady driving the car shoots him a dirty look as she walks him inside, into an interrogation room.

why'd you punch him, what happened, she's asking. Gus tells her that the guy was being a dick, that he threw the first punch, but she wasn't having it.

that's a bad alibi, she says, and leaves him there. Gus hangs his head. he's only 16, he's not going to fucking jail when he was assaulted first.

he knows, though, that no matter what he says, he's not getting out of this one.
