Hunter sits on his comforter, frowning. he looks at the scars on his wrists from years ago, that spelled out all his pain and suffering. he blinks. he's in the kitchen, eating whatever he can get his hands on, regardless of if it's his or not.

another blink. he's in the bathroom now, on his knees in front of the toilet, fingers down his throat and gagging. he hears a knock on the door, and Gus is asking what he's doing. panicking, he responds hoarsely that he's fine, grimacing at the way his voice sounds and hoping Gus doesn't notice.

"what do you guys want to eat tonight?" is Willows questioning every evening.

nothing, Hunter thinks bitterly. if he stopped eating her homemade meals, he'd be at his goal already.

everyone responds with what they prefer. Hunter mumbles a noncommittal "anything is fine," and stalks off. Gus frowns at his back slightly but gets distracted when Amity asks about his AP classes.

in his room, Hunter looks at his log for the day. the neatly written words and carefully counted numbers beside them. looks at the chart in the front of the journal, reading his morning weight over and over.

at three in the morning, Hunter dimly registers the beauty of the rain in New York City through his window. he hasn't eaten anything in 3 days, and he feels like he's going to pass out, but it's fine because he's 2 pounds lighter.

dark spots dance around his vision, and he pulls his weighted blanket tighter around himself. he feels his heart beating too fast, and he's shivering even though his heater is on.

Gus asked why his hair was in the sink yesterday. Hunter said it's because he brushed too hard, but he and Gus know that's not it.

"i'm worried about you."

"are you okay?"

"i think you should talk to someone..."

he's sick of it. of hearing people tell him he's ill, that he needs help. he doesn't. what Hunter needs is to get to his goal weight. then he'll be fine.

he wonders when it became less of "oh, i forgot to eat today. oops," and more of "i don't want to eat ever again."

Gus corners him in the hall one morning, finger against his chest. "you need to eat," he says. Hunter shakes his head, even though his body's trembling and he knows Gus can feel his sternum through his jumper.

the younger witch takes his boney wrist and pulls him to the kitchen, where Willow is waiting for them with tears in her eyes. "i heard you, you know. in the bathroom," Gus mumbles as he pushes Hunter into a chair.

Hunter feels his heart skip a beat, though he's not sure if it's from the lack of food or Gus' admission.

Willow pushes a plate of spaghetti in front of him. "please," she whispers, voice frayed around the edges. Hunter swallows hard around the lump in his throat as he stares at the dish.

trembling, he takes the fork next to him. the cold metal barely registers as his mind screams at him not to eat it.

a tear slips down his face, and he doesn't bother to wipe it away.
