Dust rises from the cobblestones.

Wout watches from the couch, under careful orders not to do anything intensive for a long couple of weeks. He's itching to get up from it. His knee is bouncing. Wout stills it. He's still struggling to catch his breath—the pain hasn't disappeared, as much as he wishes it would. With every breath, he wishes for the pain to go away. With every breath, he can feel the dust coating his body, his muscles, his lungs.

He'd much rather be breathing in the dust being lifted up from the cobbled streets in northern France.
