Summary: Steve hears a song that reminds him of Natasha.



Steve’s heart ached.

He never told Natasha that he loved her, not in words, anyway.

He was listening to one of Tony’s oldies stations on the radio in his quarters. He wasn’t paying much attention until that song came on.

He and Natasha had gone on a picnic in the woods near the headquarters. They’d carried a basket and she started playing some music on her phone. They sat on a blanket and ate peanut butter and jelly sandwiches with bottles of soda as the sunshine dappled through the trees, making bright spots on the forest floor.

They’d been laughing about something Rocket had said. Steve couldn’t remember now just what it was. A song came on and she’d held her hand up for them to be quiet.

“Don’t make fun of me, but I love this old song. It reminds of a world I wanted but never had.”

A man named John Denver sang….

He’d pulled her into his arms and held her as they listened to the sweet song, held her in silence after the song was done. He knew that day that he loved her and wanted to spend his life with her. Only a couple of days later, Scott Lang had showed up and they’d had more important things to do.

Now, she was gone.

Bur she had given him the sunshine and no one could take that away.
