It’s been three weeks since we’ve gotten a new ops officer. It’s so much nicer to not be stuck with a bastard with no redeeming qualities as my senior officer. I don’t have to do all my work with my elbows pinned to my chest, praying that he won’t try to grope me, or make me sleep with him. She’s not particularly open about her past, however.

I’m starting to think there’s things she’s not telling us. She’s nice and treats us very well, but she tells us to not associate with her too closely, for our own safety. She noticed that I seemed to flinch whenever she was watching over my shoulder, and learned about what the bastard of a political informer had done, but is trying to shut down the (true) rumors of her reacting similarly to some things. And, whenever I try to look into her past, I get blocked. I’m not stupid enough to dare ask her to her face, but sometimes I want to know if she’s hiding anything, and what it is.

Now, somehow, she got Citizen Admiral Cowboy upset at her? What happened? I thought they had a good working relationship? She gets called to his office on a daily basis and comes out looking upset. I’m trying to help her, by doing more of her paperwork, but I can’t fix Admiral Tourville being mad at her.

It’s just over a week since she got the Admiral mad at her, and now she’s kidnapped and Admiral Tourville refuses all plans to go after her. He says, given her recent failure, she will have to fend for herself. Is he choosing to erase and disappear her like StateSec stole some of my classmates? Why would he want to give her up? Will her replacement be as bad as the first guy we had?

Apparently my commanding officer this whole time is from the royal family of the world we’re assigned to protect. No wonder she told us to watch her to know which fork to use at dinner. And apparently, her kidnapping was staged to let her see her family again for the first time in fourteen years. She’s also a full Captain in her world’s system defense force, and has now been appointed the SDF’s liaison to the whole task force by none other than her aunt, who’s a queen.

Also, she said to the ops department that if we do a good job, and survive dealing with StateSec, she’ll introduce us to some of her family and show us around at least one of the Palaces. I didn’t know that Elvana had a royal family, let alone palaces.
