Summary: When it rains irresistible puddles are formed

The rain, which had been hammering down all morning, had finally ceased just before Harry Pearce and Adam Carter left the Grid to call on the official they suspected of passing information onto a foreign power. The werewolf, who had been staring miserably out of the window at the rain, went with them, happy now it had stopped.

They were partway there when Adam suddenly said, “No you don’t” and hastily stepped sideways.

The werewolf leapt into a large puddle, sending water everyone, and liberally splashing Harry, who had failed to take evasive action. The werewolf grinned at him cheerfully.

Three days later, Harry, Adam and Lucas were making a return visit to the official, who had agreed to become a double agent. The weather hadn’t improved, and Adam and Lucas were wearing wellington boots; Harry refused to descend to donning such footwear.

They were taking the same route as before when Lucas said, “Ah yes, I remember this.” He cheerfully splashed his way through the puddle, which by now had grown further.

Harry glared at him, before saying, “Lucas North, your behaviour was barely acceptable as a vulpine, but you are a grown man.”

“Still a wolf at heart!”
