Author's Notes: Written for Challenge 425: String at fan_flashworks, and fills the "Wall/Tower" square of my 2023 Story Sparks + Drabble Fest Bingo Card. Also inspired by the Tower card in the Lenormand card deck.
Summary: The last seat of the bus used to be Hope's alone. Now it's reserved for Hope and Kelley.


Hope sits awake in the back of the bus. Everyone else is asleep, including the woman next to her, curled into Hope's side, head on her shoulder. Hope doesn't know when it started. She's always kept to herself, the team wary of her. But despite their warnings, this energetic child in an adult's body attached herself to Hope and wouldn't let go. And Hope didn't push her away. And now, Hope doesn't want to. Kelley O'Hara pulls her heartstrings completely. In these last two seats, their own nook, Hope tucks Kelley's blanket around both of them and nestles against her.
