Aaron lifted up his cup of hot tea and looked out into the yard. It was already foggy even though the sun had just set. The moon wasn't even able to cut through the fog that was rolling in. Aaron's house being close to the river had never been a big issue before, but this October had been a little weird for the weather. He had been happy with the decorations until a thunderstorm came through and destroyed the ghost he had bought. Jack had been happy it was gone, so Aaron had gone shopping for decorations with him this time, making Jack go if he wanted to have an opinion on the things they would be using until long after Jack had moved out to go to college.

Jack was spending the night at a friend's house. There was probably going to be no sleeping, and they were going to stay up all night playing video games, as they had the last time Aaron had hosted it. He was the one who did it the least with his job, but he was okay with that, and the other parents were happy as Aaron always sent along a lot of snacks with Jack to offset a lot of teenage boys eating.

The house being empty was still something Aaron wasn't used to. It was better in the apartment as he could just listen to his neighbors and have no issues. Now, there was no noise outside of the passing of cars, which, even at nine, was not a lot of them. Aaron took another sip of his tea before he headed outside, setting his tea down on the counter beside the door. He sat down in the chair closest to the door and pulled out his phone to mess around with it. He had loved the fog as a kid. He hadn't started to connect it with enemies and other nasty things hiding in it. It was still something he liked now, but it had taken him a while to get to that point again. It was kind of hilarious to think about how he was when he was a teenager.

"Hotch?" Reid called out from the side of the house.

Aaron looked at the time, and his watch said it was tne. Which meant he had been musing on his past for over an hour. He looked at his phone to see it was dead. He frowned at that. He hadn't had that low of a battery before coming out. His phone shouldn't be dead.

"Coming!" Aaron called out. He laid his phone down on the stand and headed over to where he had heard Reid's voice. It was a nice night despite the fog, and Aaron was comfortable in a thin long-sleeved shirt. He expected Reid to be in a sweater of some kind. Reid was standing at the gate on that side of the house with a smile on his face.

"My car broke down."

"Where?"

"Just up the street. I parked it in a public parking area, and I hoped that I could just stay the night. I figure that with the fog, the tow trucks are going to be busy until morning with wrecks, as we all know what drivers are like when there is a little rain or fog."

Aaron snorted, but he opened up the gate to allow Reid inside. The latch was down far enough that no one could reach over the fence and open it unless they had really long arms.

"Sure. Come on in. I was just going to plug in my phone because I ran the battery down."

"I wondered as I called you, and it went to voicemail straight away. I kind of freaked out a little when I got that. I've never gotten it."

Aaron shook his head as he knew that Reid meant it, but Reid also worried about too much a lot of the time. It was something that made Aaron think that there was something there. They hadn't ever touched it, but Aaron wondered if that was something that needed to change.

"Want some hot tea? It won't take long to warm up the water in the kettle again. I have that apple spice tea you like so much this time of year."

"Yes, please. I'm going to get out of my coat as well."

Aaron looked at the coat that Reid was wearing. It was thin, but it was over a sweater, so it wasn't used for much other than keeping the dampness off the sweater. Aaron picked up his phone as they passed it and plugged it in as soon as he got inside. The cord being plugged in caused the screen to light up and the battery symbol to show it was charging. He would let it charge and then turn it on when it had more of a charge. It's the kind of thing that Aaron was wary about.

"Oh, you got the really good one," Reid said as he pulled the tea box from the cabinet. It was in a little black box, and the smell of it was going to fill the house as soon as it was dunked in water.

Aaron loved the smell of it, but he hated the taste. He was happy with it just being something for Reid.

"I'm going to take off my shoes and take them up to the front of the house if that's okay?"

"Sure. You can turn on the low lights. I'll stoke up a fire as well. I can see you are chilled even with the coat and thick sweater." Aaron looked down at Reid's legs. "And the corduroy pants."

"I wasn't expecting to be out in the fog for this long, and despite it was supposed to be warm, it's not really."

"To you, Vegas Boy," Aaron said.

Reid just laughed.

Aaron caught Reid, looking him up and down out of the corner of his eye as Reid headed for the living room to drop his shoes off by the door. It was something that Aaron had noticed over the years but never lingered too much. Aaron wasn't sure that Reid had a professed sexuality. There was never a guess from Morgan or even JJ on it, so if they knew they weren't talking about it and if they didn't know, they didn't care. Aaron didn't care either beyond making sure his team was safe. If Reid never wanted to come out to anyone, that was okay. It wasn't good to force people out, just like it wasn't right to keep people forced into it.

Of course, Aaron had never come out to anyone on the team. He was pretty sure that Dave suspected that he was bisexual. Aaron had been good about keeping pronouns out of conversations on things in the last few years. Aaron had tried to do a few casual dates, but in the end, no one was interesting enough to him to take the plunge, male or female. Beth had been the closest, and she had been nowhere near what Aaron wanted out of someone who was supposed to be his partner.

"Thanks," Reid said as he came into the room again. His socks were thick; and one was purple with neon orange pumpkins on it, and the other was green with black pumpkins on them. Aaron remembered when JJ had gotten him the set of socks. Nineteen different pairs of lurid-colored Halloween socks. Reid had loved them so much. JJ had been treated like a Goddess for a week, with Reid having done anything she asked. She hadn't taken advantage of for even a second.

"You just had to choose those ones to wear today, didn't you?"

"I was pumpkin shopping today, so yes. I did. I have found all but my big pumpkin, but Morgan's going shopping with me for that one, along with his truck, so we can fit it in there."

"I can't believe you talked your building management to allow you to decorate for Halloween and do a big trick-or-treat event the night it's happening."

"Well, the ground floor has a big foyer that will allow us to all camp out down there so the kids don't have to gain access to the building proper. It's also going to help with maybe filling up the empty apartments since people find the building a little off-putting. It's public relations."

Aaron laughed as he took in the look on Reid's face. He knew that Reid had spent a while figuring out the best way to have it done, even getting Dave's help on making sure it happened. Aaron was just glad that Reid was coming out of his shell even more. The click of the water being done had Aaron turning around to pour water into the cup. He had found a nice big cup for Reid to use when he was over for one thing or another, just for tea, as that was too much coffee for him to drink before it got too cold.

"Want me to start the fire?"

"Yes." Reid took the cup when Aaron offered it over.

There was something slightly off about Reid, but it wasn't like it was out of the normal, so Aaron just wanted Reid to follow him into the living room.

Aaron had made sure the chimney was cleaned out, and things were set up for this long before the fall started to set in. Jack loved having the fireplace, and it had been a lifesaver this past winter when a massive storm took out the power for a day. The fireplace had been the only warmth they had, and Aaron had been happy to have it then. They had camped in the living room that night and then made sure that everything was set up for the power to come back on. It still took a while to warm up the rest of the house, so even after the power was back on, they had not been able to leave there for a while.

Reid had gone over to Morgan's since he had a place that had gas everything, and Aaron had been worried about both of them, but they survived it.

"I love your fireplace," Reid said as he settled into the chair and took a sip of his still-too-hot tea. He made a noise of disgust.

"You know that's too hot."

"But I'm cold."

Aaron focused on the fire and not on the image of Reid sitting in the chair and looking at Aaron like he wanted to do something else besides sitting in front of the fire and sipping tea. Aaron swallowed as the image lit up his mind. He hadn't had sex for a while, and it was never something Aaron had really craved with anyone; he also did like it. He didn't mind using his hands or toys, but there was something about another body with you that made it all that much better. So Aaron focused on the fire and not the slight erection he was getting from the image of Reid bathed in firelight as they fucked in front of the fire.

"Do you have any blankets?" Reid asked.

"The hall closet where the coats go. I brought out a few blankets and put them in there for cold nights in front of the fire."

Reid set down his tea, and Aaron couldn't help looking. He watched as Reid got up and the way that his pants framed his ass. There was also a quick glance at his crotch, and Aaron was sure he was hard as well.

Aaron finished getting the fire going as Reid got out the blankets before he settled in on the floor in front of it. His erection wasn't going to be easy to hide in the pants he was wearing, and things were just a little out of the ordinary at the moment. He wasn't sure what he wanted if the foggy night in front of the fire was the best way to make his affection and intentions known to the younger man.

"We could make a blanket pike and cuddle in front of the fire," Reid said.

Aaron closed his eyes because there was no stopping it when Reid got closer to him with a blanket. The blanket was draped over his shoulders before Reid was right there, settling in beside him.

"Or something else." Spencer laid his hand on Aaro'ns thigh, his fingertips just inches from Aaron's cock as it lay in his pants.

"Reid."

"Spencer."

Aaron swallowed again, and he opened his eyes to look at Spencer. There was something there in Spencer's eyes that said he knew what he was doing. What Aaron didn't know was what his reaction should be. He knew what he wanted it to be. Spencer wasn't acting like he had drunk anything; he would never have driven if he had drank even a single beer. There was a lot that they needed to think about what they needed to do. That could come after, though.

Turning to face Spencer a little better, Aaron reached up to pull him in for a kiss. He knew that Spencer wanted more, but Aaron wanted the kiss first, a lot of them, to be honest.

Spencer all but climbed onto his lap, his erection pressing into Aaron as he tried to climb inside of Aaron, it felt like. In the end, Aaron pulled the blankets around them to wrap them into a cocoon of warmth as it was going to be a little bit of losing clothes as they touched and tasted.

Aaron wiggled his hands under Spencer's layers, finding warm skin that was smooth to the touch. The feel of Spencer's skin wasn't new. It was just the context that was new. Aaron had helped him with cuts and bruises before in places that Spencer couldn't teach, so he knew the feel of the other man's skin easily. There was a lot of touching that Aaron wanted to do, and Spencer would need to be naked for that, but it was for a few minutes.

Spencer was the one that wiggled out of Aaron's hands for a minute, and he got out his water and the shirt he had on under it with ease, slipping back into the blankets and losing them not a lot of heat.

"Wanted this for so long," Spencer whispered before he leaned in to start the kissing up again.

Aaron moaned his agreement as he sucked Spencer's tongue into his mouth. Things hadn't lined up for them to start something like this, but now it seemed like the perfect time for it. Aaron wanted this to be good, and he knew that they needed to talk about being clean and tests and the like, so for now, it was just going to be a lot of touching and jerking off. The rest could come later after they talked.

"Get his off," Spencer said as he plucked at the back of Aaron's shirt before his hands wormed their way under it. Despite wanting it off, Spencer didn't let go or stop kissing so Aaron could get it off.

Aaron had to break the kiss and pushed Spencer back a little to get the shirt off. There was already a blanket behind Spencer on the floor, so Aaron wasn't shocked when Spencer just went backward all the way, his body stretching out and his cock pushed up where he still had his legs wrapped around Aaron.

Spencer's cock size was nothing new to Aaron. They had all seen each other even down to naked in cases of various things. It was rare, but there was nothing new there. Aaron had never seen him hard, though, and Spencer was a grower despite not being small when he was flaccid. Aaron wanted to suck that cock into his mouth, but he also just wanted to touch it. Aaron sat up a little, Spencer's legs falling from around him down to the floor. He worked his pants open so it would be easier when they reached that point. Spencer mimicked him and grinned when Aaron grabbed the blanket that had fallen down and draped it over his back before covering gup Spencer again, slotting their groins together to rub a little.

"Fuck, please," Spencer begged a little.

Aaron kissed him to stop the words as Spencer's mouth, and words were going to be the downfall of him. Spencer had a wicked mouth when he needed to, and the kind of things he could say were enough to make a hooker blush. Aaron had heard it a few times when Spencer had been needed to play a part or even coax a murderer into giving up more than they wanted to about something.

He wanted to take this time with Spencer, at least as much as he could, with everything that was going on with them right now. He braced his hands on the floor and stayed up a little; once Aaron was sure he was settled, he moved to just be braced on one arm and touched, his hand ghosting down Spencer's side until he could get his hand under the back of Spencer's pants, cupping his ass under his underwear and pulling him up. There was so much that was damned good about this, and Aaron wanted to keep on going for as long as he could. There was so much that Aaron wanted to do in front of the fire, but they had time. Aaron could make plans and make sure that they were on the same page before taking Spencer apart in the front of the fire like he wanted to.

"Close," Spencer said as he thrust up into Aaron. "Get naked."

Aaron broke the kiss again, reluctantly pulling his hand from Spencer's pants. He shoved his pants to his knees before carefully lifting his body to get them off him. He even tugged off his socks and then turned around and did the same for Spencer as his pants were caught around them. He just shoved the clothes in the area at the bottom of the blankets, not wanting to make a big deal about where they were.

Spencer grabbed at him to pull him back down. Aaron took a few seconds to make sure they were covered again, the blanket as secure as he could make as he fully laid down over Spencer. Spencer's legs cradled him, and it felt too damned good. The warmth of skin and the hard breaths as Spencer tried to calm down. It was the kind of thing Aaron hadn't had in a long time, wanting to just do nothing but bask, yet do everything at the same time.

"So good, come on," Spencer said.

Aaron complied, and he started to grind down into Spencer; the sweat from their bodies slicked the way for them to not have any pain. Despite it being one of the softer orgasms that Aaron had ever had, he felt like it was one of the best. He shuddered as he felt Spencer tip over that edge as well. They stayed like that until Aaron couldn't without putting all of his weight on Spencer. He slipped to the side and reached out for his boxers to clean them up a little. He was tired, and a warm body beside him lured Aaron into sleep.

---

It was still warm when Aaron woke up, but he found that Spencer wasn't with him anymore. He grabbed the pants he had been wearing from where they were still at the bottom of the nest and slipped them on. He listened for sounds but found none. Spencer's clothes were gone, so Aaron got up and went to the kitchen, expecting to see Spencer outside, looking at the rising sun through the fog, but there was nothing. There wasn't even an empty mug from Spencer's tea in the kitchen. Aaron went for his phone he had left on charge, but it wasn't there.

Aaron went outside to see his phone on the stand beside the chair he had been in the night before. He opened it up and found a text from Spencer asking to come over for lunch that day. It was sent just fifteen minutes before. Had Spencer walked back to his broken car in the middle of the night? Or had he paid for a cab? Or found public transit? Aaron was about to text back that Spencer could come over whenever he wanted when a new text came through that said he was already on his way.

The night was there in Aaron's head. He could remember every single second of it. There was nothing there in his head that made him think it was a dream. He remembered the taste of Spencer. The sounds he made.

Aaron walked back to the living room to look at the nest they had made. He could remember every single second from the moment they had gotten inside until when he had fallen asleep curled into Spencer. There was so much that was just there in his mind. He could still remember the taste of Spencer as well. There was not a lot there that wasn't just right there for him to access. He wanted to do something else, but in the end, he just stayed where he was until he heard the sound of a car door.

Walking to the front door, Aaron opened it up and found Spencer standing at the Amazon. He was dressed in a jacket over a T-shirt, not the sweater he had been wearing the night before.

"I had..." Spencer swallowed and looked around before stepping closer to Aaron.

"Come in," Aaron said. He held the door open and waved for Spencer to go inside. He wanted to make sure that things were calm for Spencer as he looked like he was just about ready to freak out.

There had been a few freakouts over the years, usually when stimuli were too much, and Aaron didn't want to push Spence into something like that.

Spencer went right for the nest, and he stared at it for a few seconds before looking at Aaron again. "This wasn't....a dream, but it was."

"What?" Aaron asked.

"I had the same dream, Hotch."

"Aaron, please, Aaron."

Spencer swallowed, and he looked at the slowly dying fire. It wasn't going to last much longer. Aaron walked over to it and stoked it up a little before putting a small log on it.

"I had a dream that I was here, and we did all of that, and then I woke up in my bed in the same clothes I went to sleep in, but I remember what it was like to kiss you, what you tasted like. It was a dream, and yet." Spencer waved his hands down at the blankets that were still like they had been when Aaron had gotten up.

"That's impossible," Aaron said.

It was impossible, and it was something that didn't seem like it was going to be anything close to good to going down the obsession road.

"My car isn't broken down, and in the dream, it sputtered and died and wouldn't start up again. There is no way it fixed itself like that. Of course, there were so many other weird things in the dream, like the fog that is still kind of there but not really. It's getting closer to Halloween, and the walls between worlds are thinning if that's the way that this is going."

Aaron sat down on the couch, and he thought about everything that Spencer was saying. He knew that things were wrong the moment he woke up. He had just dropped it all down into Spencer not being there as the wrong thing. That Spencer had just slipped out in the night after what they had done. He wasn't sure that he wanted to go further down the road of what Spencer had researched on things.

"So, what do you want to do?"

"I don't...it's not like I can prove anything. I can't just magic up something that will show that we both had the exact same dream, and you even made up the damned nest in the living room." Spencer started to pace.

Aaron got up again and walked over to reach out and pull Spencer to him. He could tell that Spencer was worried about what had happened between them in the dream, but not that he was upset about it actually happening, but the fact that he wanted it, and he was afraid to ask for it.

"Ask," Aaron said.

Spencer swallowed as Aaron pulled him close. Spencer's hand gripped Aaron's arms, holding on like he feared being ripped away. There was little to do but make sure that Spencer understood where Aaron was coming from in this. To make sure that Spencer was well aware of what Aaron wanted. To leave no chance of anything happening with them that would ruin this.

"Ask," Aaron repeated.

"Kiss me," Spencer said.

It wasn't the ask Aaron thought he would get, but he gave in anyway. He pulled Spencer that last few steps closer to him and slotted his mouth over Spencer's. Aaron dropped his hands to hold Spencer's hips, letting him know that things were just fine. It was going to be good to have this when he wanted.

Spencer was warm despite the shivering he was doing at being kissed. There was just the right amount of need in the kiss.

Hours later, Aaron looked at the expanse of skin that was on display in front of him where SPencer was lying on him with just the blanket around his waist. They needed to get up soon and deal with getting things cleaned up before Jack made it home, but Aaron didn't want to leave the cocoon they had made for themselves in there. Snacks were on the coffee table, along with coffee for Spencer. It was the kind of morning Aaron loved, even if it had been a long time since he had a morning like that.

"What do you think it was?" Spencer asked as he turned his head to look up at Aaron. He stayed like that for a few seconds before he twisted around and grabbed the blankets to pull up over him.

Aaron pouted for a few seconds before Spencer moved again, this time sitting on Aaron's groin, the blankets wrapped around to protect his back from the cold, but he looked like he was going to stay like he was, his front on display this time.

"Magic. We both know that there are things that can't be described in this world. We have seen pockets of it from time to time. This is no different on that front. So we can just accept that it happened and brought us to where we needed to be."

"I knew you were a romantic," Spencer said. He stood up, taking the blankets with him and leaving Aaron with just the sheet.

"And I knew you would love it." Aaron grabbed the sheet and followed Spencer up to the second floor, where they could get dressed for the day. Spencer had a few things in the guest room that would not be out of place on him.

Beyond telling Jessica later that night, telling Jack was the main thing to do. Jack shouldn't be upset, but they would handle it if it happened.

The End
