Title: Under the Bridge
Fandom: Sherlock (BBC)
Rating: G
Length: 221 words
Summary: Sherlock is happy at the successful conclusion of another case.

"You look very pleased with yourselves,” John Watson said to Sherlock Holmes and Stanley Hopkins, as they came into 221B.  “I presume your case had a successful conclusion.”

“It all worked out just as I said it would,” Sherlock replied.  “Riley and his mate drove over the bridge and then the mate’s car ‘conveniently’ broke down, so blocking the bridge and preventing Lestrade’s men catching up with him.  Riley slipped out of the car and intended to disappear into the crowd, thinking that by the time the police had driven round via the next bridge he would be long gone.”

“Unfortunately for Riley,” Stanley took up the tale, “I was waiting for Sherlock and Greg by the entrance to the bridge.  They ran down to join me, and I drove the rib across the river, getting Greg there in time to collar Riley as he left his mate’s car.”

“No wonder you look pleased.”

“Another case of the criminal forgetting about the river police when thinking they have the perfect plan.  Although they aren’t the only ones,” Stanley added, “my colleagues in the Met frequently forget we exist.”

“Unlike the world’s only consulting detective,” Sherlock said, leaning over to kiss Stanley, “who would never forget about you.”

“Is it me you love,” Stanley said, “or are you just after my boat?”
