Jim was heading over to Lincoln’s Bridge for whatever reason. He was just following orders. Blair had called and told him to meet him there. Jim had actually never been there, but for Blair he would do it. The man never asked for much. Although, I wouldn’t mind if he asked for certain things. Jim liked to make jokes to himself and then laugh. People always looked at him like he was nuts.

When he arrived, he wondered where Blair was. He opened his senses up and knew exactly where Blair was. Jim parked and walked over to the small bridge and saw Blair sitting there on the ground, on top of a blanket. He had a picnic basket and Jim couldn’t help but smile. This is a fucking date. All right.

Jim walked over to the blanket and saw Blair looking up at him, smiling big time.

“Hey, Blair. What are we doing here?”

“I made lunch. We have an hour and a half. Simon okayed it for us.”

“Really? He must have been in a good mood today. What did you make for lunch?” Jim asked.

“I made pastrami sandwiches, potato salad and some chips. For dessert, there is homemade cheesecake. I did promise to bring some to the bullpen for Simon. That was part of the deal.”

“I’ve never been here before,” Jim pointed out.

“Neither have I. But someone at the station mentioned it was a nice place. I took a chance. Are you hungry?”

“Starving. Blair, is this a date?”

“Yes, it is. Do you mind?”

“Not at all. I like dating. Especially, someone I really like already. Thanks for the invitation.”

Jim looked around and saw the water fall under the bridge and thought that was a cool touch.

“Megan told me about this place. She thought it would be a good place for first date material. I think I agree with her.”

“Oh, I do too. I love the waterfall under the bridge. It’s very relaxing,” Jim answered.

“Jim, I’m so glad you’re taking this well. I wasn’t sure how you would react.”

“If I wasn’t interested, I would have told you right off the bat. But I am and was interested for quite some time. Never worry about talking to me about anything.”

“Same goes for you, Jim. You could have asked me out also.”

Jim smiled and said, “We’re both stupid.”

They both ate their lunch and finished with dessert. By this time, Jim was lying on the blanket relaxing next to Blair. Jim pulled Blair closer to him and said, “May I kiss you already?”

“I thought you would never ask,” Blair was thrilled.

The kissed for a few minutes but then Jim pulled away. “I have to calm down. It’s been a long time since I went on a date. How about we go out tonight for pizza and then we’ll make out at the loft?”

“That’s sounds perfect, Jim. Why don’t we walk around the bridge area. It’s truly lovely here.”

“Sounds good to me, Chief. Let’s put all this away and put it in your car.”

They worked together and then went for their walk. Blair slid his hand into Jim’s and Jim didn’t pull away. Blair took this as a very good sign.

Lincoln’s Bridge was a perfect spot for a date. Especially, a first date. Jim was pleased and could see that Blair was pleased also.

They were off to a good start.
