“Jim, have you ever walked outside and been hit in the face with a leaf from the trees?”

“Can’t say as I have, Chief.”

“It happens to me all the time. Certain trees have very abrasive leaves. In fact, in Arizona you wouldn’t be a happy camper if hit by a leaf from a mesquite tree. They look nice, but the tree is not nice. They have thorns and everything. The leaf itself is very small and sharp to the touch. Weeping Willows have short stems and are usually narrow and long with a rounded base and pointed tip, usually with teeth along the edge. You don’t want to be hit by them either.”

“I guess the trick is to stay away from leaves, Chief. Those two trees don’t sound that fun at all.”

“I agree, Jim. Now let me get some loose-leaf paper to write on and we’ll look over your file from work.”

“Now that’s a leaf you don’t mind being hit in the face with.” Jim thought he was being so clever.

“Unless it gives you a paper cut.”

Both men laughed and Jim went to get the file so they could work on it together.”
