Title: Taking Care of Ambrose
Fandom: Spooks (MI5)/Miss Marple
Rating: G
Length: 468 words
Summary: Adam has asked Miss Marple to take care of werewolf!Lucas.

"You're sure you don’t mind, Miss Marple?” Adam Carter said.  “We wouldn’t normally ask, but in the circumstances…”

“I quite understand,” Jane Marple replied.  “It would be far too risky to have him with you and he’ll be quite safe here.”

“It’s just that he is rather large.”

“We will manage perfectly well.”  She looked at the werewolf and smiled at him.  “You’ve put his bed in the sitting room and the suitcase in the spare bedroom just in case you don’t return in time.  Now, hadn’t you better be off?”

Adam nodded.  He rubbed the werewolf’s head affectionately and reminded him once again to behave, and then departed.

After he had gone, Miss Marple looked at the werewolf and said, “I don’t think we need all these instructions, do you?  So long as you remember that while you are on four feet you stay downstairs, I can’t see there will be any problems.”  The werewolf tilted his head slightly, and she added, “Of course, if there’s an emergency then that’s another matter.  But it must be a real emergency.”  The werewolf nodded.

Later that afternoon Miss Marple decided to take a walk round St Mary Mead and took the werewolf with her.  He walked just in front of her, since they couldn’t walk side by side, until they came to the playing field, where Miss Marple told him he could run on.

Two small boys were playing football and they kicked the ball to the werewolf, who chased after it, bounced it onto the roundabout, sat down for a circuit, then bounced it off again before dribbling it up the seesaw and down the other side.

“Ambrose, come here,” Miss Marple called.  The werewolf obediently trotted over and sat down.  “That’s quite enough of that.  Nobody wants to see a show off.  However, you may play nicely for a little while if you like.”

The werewolf looked at the two boys who called him to come and join them and they played together until one of the boys’ mothers called out, “We should be getting home for tea now.”

Both boys rushed off to have one last go down the slide, followed by the werewolf, who slid down a little bit too fast and fell off the end.

Miss Marple sighed and said, “It’s time we were getting home too.”

When they got back to the cottage, Miss Marple looked critically at the werewolf.  “You’ve got leaves and bits of twig in your fur, I shall have to give you a brush.”  The werewolf lay flat on the floor, so she added, “You may please yourself, but you won’t be watching television this evening if I don’t brush you.”  As Miss Marple had expected, the werewolf hurried to fetch his brush from the bag containing his possessions.
