Gwendolyn Post had been searching for the Glove of Myhnegon for a very long time. It had been lost, perhaps deliberately, for centuries, and no record remained of exactly how powerful it was, but then in the case of the glove, records were hardly necessary. If it was dangerous enough to have been hidden so carefully then its power must be immense, and Ms Post intended to harness that power for her own purposes.

Naturally, she couldn’t tell anyone else that. They’d find out soon enough once she had it, but she might as well make use of what resources were available, have Mr Giles and the Slayers help her locate it and keep the demon Lagos from getting hold of it. Once the prize was in her hands, disposing of them would be simple. No one would be able to stop her.

Unfortunately, they turned out to be more resourceful that she’d anticipated. Mr Giles might behave like a bumbling fool, how he’d ever been granted authority over a Slayer was beyond her, but Gwendolyn was forced to admit that he did have quite a sharp mind. And then there was Buffy’s friend, the vampire, who beat her to the glove and intended to destroy it. Well, Gwendolyn couldn’t have that, could she?

Wearing the glove, feeling all that power coursing through her veins, racing along her nerves like living lightning, was a heady feeling. It was all Gwendolyn’s now, so much power there would be nothing she couldn’t do! It was part of her now, impossible to remove, and yet…

Buffy, it seemed, was more resourceful than Gwendolyn had expected. She made no attempt to remove the glove, simply removed the arm that was wearing it. Ms Post had won her prize, at the cost of her life.
