What did I get myself into?

Kenma watched the two crudely drawn figures waddle towards a gate labled “Mushroom Kingdom”, followed by the cartoonishly evil laugh from King Koopa himself.

“Nice of the princess to invite us over for a picnic, gay Luigi?”

“I hope she made lotsa spaghetti!”

CD-i Luigi’s low-quality screeching rang in Kenma’s ears. With a grimace, he turned down the volume of his pc’s loudspeaker.

Who even brings spaghetti to a picnic?

Messages such as “this game sucks, lol” and “can you play Kaizo Mario again?” flooded his chat. Kenma ignored them to focus on the mess unfolding on his screen. The game hadn’t started yet but judging from the intro, he wasn’t in for a fun time. A marathon of all 2D Mario games to celebrate a new subscription milestone had sounded good in practice, better than rage-quitting various super difficult SMW hacks. Well, anything sounded better than that.

He could handle the weird historical quizzes, the time travel nonsense, even the goddamn typing game for grade schoolers, but could he handle this too?

Don’t worry, Kenma, he reminded himself. This is a marathon, not a speedrun. You play it once and then never again.
