Sansa is born a trout, red and blue and bawling.

Sansa is raised a wolf, white and grey and graceful.

She is sent south to become a queen. Made a prisoner. Called Cersei's little bird. Broken.

Birds, Sansa knows, are not meant to be stationary things - they spend their lives traveling as the years turn into seasons, flitting from roost to roost, from morn to noon to dusky dawn. They should be, and are, wild and free.

They only sing sweetly when pinned and caged. Sansa has learned to sing well and quick.
