Summary: Caradoc is determined he will neither forgive nor forget what happened to his mother

Caradoc had vowed to neither forgive nor forget.  When King Benedict and Queen Eleanor had gone to his mother, the fairy Carabosse, to ask for her help to have a child, they had failed to thank her, preferring instead to ignore the way she had provided them with a child.  Was it any wonder that Carabosse had been so angry she had cursed the baby Princess Aurora? 

For this, his mother had been banished, where no word of the baby’s origins could be made known, and she had died in exile.  Caradoc had returned vowing to have his revenge on them all.

He had ensured that the day they celebrated Aurora’s coming of age he had attended the party.  With everyone in such high spirits, and with all their thoughts of a glorious future, it was so easy to present the princess with the black rose, letting the thorn prick her thumb.

And therefore to enter a century of sleep.  Caradoc reflected that it might have been more fun to see that glorious future swept away in the forthcoming turmoil, but the palace had slept through the destruction which a war three years later would bring to the other kingdoms which believed in their own glorious future.

But now, his moment was to come.  He would have his ultimate revenge.  No-one would be forgiven and the wrong done to his mother would be rightfully remembered.  A kiss was all that was needed, and Aurora would wake and marry him.

Nothing, nothing had happened.  He had kissed her, and she did not wake.  Caradoc cursed Count Lilac, who had worded the spell.  Nevertheless, he had waited one hundred years, a few hours more was of little importance.  He would let Leo kiss her to wake her and then he, Caradoc, would sweep Aurora into his arms and carry her away to become his bride.
