Alone in her room, Buffy faces facts: her love life is a complete and utter disaster, and the way things are going she honestly can’t see it getting any better. First there was poor Owen Thurman, who she really liked, but who turned out to have kind of a death wish, or something.

Then there was Tom, the rich frat boy, who only wanted to sacrifice her to his pet snake demon. After him, she’d thought there were possibilities with Ford. She’d had such a crush on him when they’d been at Hemery together, but he’d wanted to trade her to Spike for a chance at immortality.

Through all of that there’d been Angel, in the background at first and then… For a while there she’d thought she’d hit the jackpot with him. He’d been sweet, attentive, caring, gorgeous, and then she’d slept with him, which had turned out to be the worst decision she’d ever made. Talk about disasters! He’d turned evil again, gone on the rampage, murdered Ms Calendar, and tried to have the world sucked into Hell.

Killing him should have put an end to that doomed romance. She’d really thought it had, and eventually she’d decided she was ready to move on. It had felt good to date someone as normal as Scott Hope; he’d been amazingly patient with her, but just when she’d begun to feel she was getting the whole dating thing right for once, Angel came back.

And now, because she’s been so distracted lately keeping Angel’s return a secret, Scott has dumped her! Maybe she’s destined to end up an old maid, living by herself, with a few cats for company, and a lot of regrets. If she even survives long enough to grow old.

“Might as well accept it; I’m undatable.”
