Silmarillion: Fanart: Rattling the Cage

  • May. 11th, 2014 at 11:48 PM
Title: Rattling the Cage
Fandom: Silmarillion
Rating: Teen
Content Notes: chose not to warn
Artist Notes: The premise of the AU I used for this piece of art is of conflict and chaos, and this goes to the root of that chaos. The fight that is coming for the people who are finding themselves in a world that isn't quite what they remember.
Summary: The gate is near, and it is fire and ice.

ice cave and fire layered with text overlaid

Text is:
he can feel the nearness of the gate
fire and ice, darkness and light, bound together
a path barred to him and he rattles the cage called arda
let the children wake to see what their world is
and let them return what is his to him

I didn't know you did *arts* Love the background image - it's totally chaotic enough for the Silmarillion (which as an adult I still find hard to read...)

*uses the most appropriate icon I possess*

I don't do a lot of art beyond wallpapers for my laptop and icons, and most of the time don't share a lot. I do have a habit of periodically doing sketches, though at the moment, the quality has suffered because I've not been keeping in practice.

The background image is actually two of them overlapped - an ice cave in Antarctica and an image of fire. I'm glad you like how it came out, though! :)

I like the ominous beauty of this piece of art, as well as the creepy quality of the text. Which font did you use?

Thank you!

I used Thorns, which I got from Fontspace (particularly here, the one at the bottom).
