Clint adjusted the pillow pile under his leg and sighed. He was so tired of falling off buildings. Alpine glared at him. So much for changing the channel. "Your cat's on the remote." Clint reached out, thought better of it, and snatched his hand away just in time.

"She weighs like nine pounds." Bucky didn't even look up from his book.

"Yeah, I'm not doing anything that brings me closer to those sharp little claws." He knew how sharp they were from experience.

"I thought you said you weren't fragile." Bucky still hadn't put his book down.

"No, I said to stop treating me like I'm fragile. There's a difference."

"Really?" Bucky looked up from his book and quirked an eyebrow. "So, you're saying, you are fragile?"

Clint picked up a pillow and was about to throw it but Alpine let out a low guttural growl and he dropped it. Who knew cats could growl? "No, I'm saying that I don't want to arm wrestle a creature made of knives, no matter how cute and fluffy she is."

Bucky stood, picked Alpine up from where she was curled up on the back of the sofa, and put her down on the floor. She brushed against his legs, gave Clint the evil eye, and stalked off. "Better?" Bucky asked.

Clint grabbed the remote quickly just in case the cat changed her mind and came back to claim it. "I could use a kiss."

He just barely caught the eye roll before Bucky leaned down and kissed him.
