Summary: Chase is chasing Barricade
The jarring howling of police sirens, the deep sounds of an engine which was running at full speed, people leaving their cars, some screaming, some pale as if they had just seen a ghost.
The ‘driver’ of the black police car didn’t cared about the chaos he was causing. He smirked while he drove his car at full speed along the street, heading to the town’s exit.
People were shouting angrily what in the name of God this police officer was thinking where he was. This was an ordinary town and not some Hollywood movie.
They were even more enraged when just a short time later, another police car rushed over thhe street with the same speed. The only difference was, that this police car had the main-color blue.
‘What do you want, Barricade?’ Chase wondered, why he was following the black police. It had been a shock to hear about the presence of a Decepticon in this town he had thought was uninteresting to them. How wrong he had been.
At least Chief wasn’t with him, that was a relief but Chase felt bad for having to lie to him and rather ceremonially kick him out of him, only to drive off at full speed without any further word.’I’ll have to excuse myself.’ Chase thought, while he tried to find out, what Barricade’s destination could be, so he could use a shortage and surprise him there.
Chase heard people shouting not only at Barricade but also at him or rather their at their holo-drivers.
His audio sensors picked up the unmistakable sound of a helicopter and for a split second he thought that Blades and Dani were flying above the highway.
‘They would have let me know.’
It began to dawn on Chase that this was probably the helicopter of the local news station and that now he and Barricade were about to become the stars of a live stream of the ‘wild chase through Griffin Rock’. Now that was a questionable honor, since that was definitely the wrong kind of attention, he wanted them to have. Their secret would be revealed and that would also mean that now the whole town would know the secret of their rescue vehicles.
‘Hopefully Chief doesn’t get into big trouble.’ It was in that moment when he regretted that he had drove off without Chief, since his holo-driver might work when he was in vehicle-mode but once he would transform, an action which was inevitable, well then his holo-driver wouldn’t be useful anyway.
‘Looks like I’m the one who is in even bigger trouble.’ Chase tried not to think too much about the consequences in the near future. Barricade slowed down and Chase took the chance to push his engine once more, minimizing the distance between them.
Without a warning Barricade transformed, raised his weapon and fired at the helicopter.
“I don’t need eyewitnesses.”
Chase braked hard. For astro-seconds he wasn’t able to proceed what had happened. Slowly it began to dawn on him, when he heard Barricade stepping forward, looking down on him with glowing red optics.
He transformed to be on optic-level with him, yet Chase was unable to say anything.
Barricade had watched unimpressed, his optics wandered over Chase’s frame. He did look like a cheap copy of him.
“What do you want?” Chase asked Barricade, fully aware that this was a lousy attempt of making him talk. Barricade’s reaction was a dead look and he didn’t felt the need to answer, instead he examined his weapon.
“That’s what you call a good shot.” He glanced over to the spot where dark smoke rose up to the sky.
“Was this really necessary? People already knew you’re …” Chase began, but Barricade cut him off with a thrashing gesture.
“Probably not, but it’s been a while since I could shot at a living target.”
Barricade’s laughter made Chase shiver. It dawned on him, that Barricade could probably crush him within the blink of an optic. If only his teammates would be with him, then it would be four against one.
“It’s an unspeakable crime, that you as a cop are behaving like this. I’ll make sure you’ll be punished in the name of the law.”
Chase made a large step forward, keeping optic contact with Barricade who was still more amused from the way Chase acted than scared of him. What could the Rescue-bot to do him? Did he even knew how to properly fight against a Decepticon like him?
“Can you live up to this promise or are your words nothing like hot air?”
That was something Chase had to find out for himself as well. Silently he prayed that his teammates were already be on their way to help him.
