Summary: "You should have sued them all for property damage," Stiles says eventually.

Derek stares at what is still left of the Hale house's front door, lying down in the mud after about the fifth time it's taken a beating. He is not even upset anymore.

Stiles clears his throat beside him and Derek looks at him in askance.

"You should have sued them all for property damage," Stiles says eventually.

Derek's lips twitch. "Can you imagine that in court?"

Stiles grins. "'Ma'am, would you please put on some shoes?'"

Derek snorts. "'Sir? Mr. Steiner? Would you please state for the record whether you consider yourself a singular entity?'"

"Yeah," Stiles decides, "you'd have made bank."

Derek nudges the door with the toe of his boot and shrugs. "D'you think they'd have found paint particles under Kali's toenails?"

"Gross," Stiles says, but he's smiling when he concedes the point. "Probably. C'mon, let's get lunch."

Derek follows him to the Jeep, and pauses just once to contemplate the house. "What a shame," he says, feeling Stiles' curious gaze on him. "I should have locked the door for additional breaking and entering charges."

Stiles doesn't stop laughing all the way over to the diner.
