Summary: Hawke tries to convince Sebastian to help her with a secret plan. Sebastian questions her motivation.

“You can't marry two people, Hawke, and that's completely beside the fact that one is a mage and the other an elf.”

“Why not? Where does it say in the Chant, ‘thou shalt not marry multiple people’?”

“It's against Chantry tradition and the dictates of the Divine.”

“Why does she care? It seems to me like it should be a private arrangement.”

“It's not private. The Chantry marries people in the eyes of the Maker and the State. But if you want a theological reason, Andraste was the bride of both Maferath and the Maker, and Maferath’s jealousy resulted in her murder and the Maker turning away from the world.”

“I love the way you say murder.”

“Hawke, please.”

“Look, the fact that Andraste had two husbands and it ended poorly doesn't seem like a compelling reason to deny the opportunity to other people. Shouldn't it be regarded as following in Andraste’s footsteps?”

“That is not the official interpretation. I'm sorry, Hawke, but the Chantry would never allow this.”

“Okay, fine. What about something unofficial then? Something just in the eyes of the Maker. You're a lay brother, you could say a few words for us in a private ceremony."

“I don't know. The Chantry would not approve if they knew.”

“They don't need to know! It's not like it will be officially recorded anywhere. It can just be between you, me, Anders, Fenris, and our friends.”

“And the Maker.”

“Yes, of course."

“Why do you want to do this, Hawke? What difference would it make to you?”

“It would put paid to the idea of me ever getting married to someone else. It would show them I mean it when I say it's just them for me.”

“But why get the Maker involved? You don't need me to say a few words to prove your commitment.”

“You know I'm not a believer, but Fenris is, of a sort. And making it more official would mean something to Anders.”

“... Fine. But we'll need to do it somewhere other than the Chantry.”

“The Wounded Coast, there's a clearing we've visited before.”

“When?”

“There's some things that I need to do first. In a couple of months, on the full moon?”

“I can do that. Just let me know when you're ready.”

“Thank you, Sebastian. It means a lot to me.”

“You helped me, it’s the least I can do.”
