Title: Set My Heart On Fire

Length: 806 words
Summary: Having a crush on your partner from outer space confuses Kade

‘Firetrucks are always red and it’s just a coincidence that this color fits Heatwave so well.’ Kade thought while he was chilling on the couch. Out of nowhere his thoughts had drifted from thinking about nothing to his partner and friend. Like so many times in last weeks.

His friend who was tall, strong and courageous, all attributes one associates with a hero as well. Technically Heatwave belonged to a team of everyday-heroes. But up to this day, he wasn’t fond of the publicity that came with that.

The alien robot had a temper that matches his paint-job, yet he had the spark on the right side. One just had to be patient. And Kade wondered from where he had picked up the patience he had with him.
In retrospect the young fireman congratulated himself, that he had finally be
en able to open his eyes to realize that the two of them were an even better rescue team when being friends.

Kade exhaled audible and closed his eyes. There was something else, that made him think about Heatwave more than Kade preferred: he was gorgeous. Sure, Heatwave was a sight to behold when he was in robot-mode and worth starring at with wide eyes, fascination written all across ones face.
Kade found himself letting his gaze wander o
ver Heatwave with a different kind of fascination and part of him was weird out from it, but it wasn’t easy not to look at Heatwave like that.

Heatwave was probably unaware of the confusion he caused him and that was something Kade was relieved about. It would be awkward, if Heatwave would know what Kade was thinking about him.
‘As if he would be flattered, that he’s the reason I fantasies about him … ‘

Kade didn’t allowed himself to think this thought to the end. He felt the heat crawling into his cheeks. He looked around the living room and of course he was alone. For once he was glad that the bots couldn’t change their size. For some unknown reason Kade was certain, that then Heatwave would now and then watch him. But then, wouldn’t it be that bad, if the bots, especially Heatwave could change their size?

Kade shook his head and got up into a sitting position, covering his face with his hands. For a couple of seconds he tried to collect himself and make the obscure thoughts go away. There had to be a logical explanation why he was having such thoughts in the last time and the bigger part of him didn’t wanted to accept the simple truth that he had a crush on his friend. That was beyond believe, a human can’t develop that kind of feelings towards an alien robot, that’s absurd. This was not some Hollywood movie, this was the real life.
Even he wasn’t much of a talker, Kade wished that he would have someone he could talk to about his feelings, but the only options were the other bots, well technically Chase was the only logical choice but would the police bot even believe him, if he would confess to him, that he had a crush on Heatwave? Kade was certain that he would think that it was some sort of joke and then he would probably ask Chief if such talk was normal for humans and that would lead to his father knowing about his feelings.

The sheer mental scenario was horrible and Kade hoped that he would never ever think about considering talking with Chase about his feelings. The only bot who should know his feelings was Heatwave but for the moment Kade knew that he didn’t had the guts to lead any conversation with his friend into the direction of relationships. Let alone ask him, what he was thinking about the possibility of humans having feelings for a Transformer and the other way around.

Minutes passed before Kade got up from the couch and went into his room. He suppressed the urge to visit the bots. But sitting in his room wasn’t preventing Kade from thinking. He grabbed his jacket and went outside, where he was greeted from a chill autumn breeze. Maybe the fresh air would help him organize his thoughts, even deep inside Kade knew that even if he would walk for the rest of the day outside he wouldn’t change his mind.
Heatwave would still be the gorgeous, courageous fire bot:
a hero from outer space who had had ignited his heart. Subconsciously Kade knew that this was the only fire he didn’t wanted to extinguish but rather fuel the flame to the point of growing it into a raging, all consuming fire.

Could he created the same fire within Heatwave? That was the question which was on his mind while he strolled through town, no particular aim in mind.
