There were currents all over the world, subtle lines of power that all connected somewhere. Stiles stopped at the edge of the town this current line had been leading him to. He frowned and looked at the sign for the town. Beacon Hills. There was something about that name that tickled at his memory. He wasn't sure what was happening, but he knew he needed help.

Stiles moved off the road and into a small area that looked like it was used to access the woods. He cocked his head to the side as he tapped the screen to call his mother. The video popped up as soon as she answered.

"Mieczyslaw, what's wrong?" Claudia Stilinski looked very upset at the look on Stiles' face.

"I'm still following the current in the ley line to whatever place I am being drawn to, but there is something about the place's name. Where did we live in California before we moved in with Aunt Celeste when you got pregnant again?"

"Are you in California? The last we knew, you were in Nevada."

"Yeah, what I thought was the current getting weaker was actually the current moving to another line. So I kept on going. I'm sitting here outside of Beacon Hills."

"Mieczyslaw, no."

Stiles looked at his mother.

"What?"

"You cannot go back there. Come home, and we will send Helena after that current."

"Mother," Stiles said.

"You were nearly killed there," his father, Noah Stilinski, said as he came and sat down beside his mother in the view of the camera.

"How?"

"The Nemeton was pulling on you. It's why we moved out of there. The link refused to be broken," Claudia said.

Stiles thought about what he had felt since he followed a human murdered from Prague to New York. He had caught the man and had turned him over to the authorities. Then he had followed the current he had found.

"I told you that we should have sent Helena after the current," Noah said.

"He was already on the way before he even told us. You try and control him," Claudia said.

"I have tried." Noah rubbed at his nose. "We can't talk you into waiting, can we?"

Stiles sighed, looking around, stopping when he saw a pair of wolves looking at him. "I think that the local pack sent a few members out."

"How do you know? Are they in beta shift in the middle of the day?" Claudia asked.

"No, they are in full shift in the middle of the day. I promise that if I feel anything wrong, I will leave. The pack here would never harm me. The Hales have honor." Stiles reached out and turned off the call. He knew his mother would be upset about it, but he didn't care too much.

Stiles opened the Jeep door, and he slipped out of it before smiling at the first wolf walking toward him. "Hunter and Mage Mieczyslaw Stilinski, at your service." He crouched down and held out his hand for the wolf to sniff him. He itched to pet the wolf, but he resisted it. That was the way to get bitten.

The Hales were legends with the ability to full shift that was passed through their blood. A few other packs had the ability as well, but usually, that was because a Hale had married into it in some way.

Another wolf came running through the trees and skidded to a stop, sliding just enough to run into the wolf Stiles was trying to greet. Another two came running as well, and only one of them could stop gracefully. Stiles kept his laughter to himself as the wolf in front of him rolled its eyes.

"Yeah, little siblings, the worst thing in the world, huh?" Stiles asked.

The wolf cocked their head to the side.

"I know who is who. I might not know the forms, but I learned all about the Hales when I came to the US to chase down the killer I was hunting. On paper, I would be classified as an intelligence analyst for Interpol, but that's a cover for myself and my team, who use Interpol to hunt down killers who move in and out of Interpol member nations. I turned the killer over to the FBI to have them do with him what they will. I had enough evidence of his crimes."

The look on the wolf's face demanded Stiles tell them why he was there.

"I felt something in the ley lines in New York, and I followed them here to figure out what is going on. There is a huge current moving around this area that is reacting with me."

The wolf reached out, snagged Stiles' sleeve, and tugged him toward the woods.

"Hey, my Jeep," Stiles said. He pointed toward it but found a naked woman getting inside of it and starting it up. He frowned as the other two wolves jumped inside of the open backseat door. Then it shut, and the Jeep took off. "I guess I'm with you."

Stiles followed the wolf through the woods until they were deep inside, and he found the Nemeton, which was the source of the current he had been feeling. He touched and found what had been pulling on him as a child. He rested his head on the tree, and he sighed. He tugged his work phone out of his pants since his personal phone was in the Jeep the naked werewolf had taken off in.

"Your parents are not happy," Helena said.

"No, I figure they are not. They probably wouldn't be happy that I let a naked werewolf and her two siblings steal the Jeep; I assume it'll be at the Hale house. Then I followed the other werewolf to the Nemeton. We need a team out here. Not the Interpol team but the Gajos team. There is a fucking Nogitsune buried in the roots of the Nemeton here."

"What?"

"You heard me. There is a Nogitsune trapped here. The magic I have was being called to it when I was a child. That's why I was being pulled there."

"The Nemeton was trying to take the magic from you to protect itself."

Stiles waited for Helena to stop yelling at the people around her on the other end of the phone in a mix of Polish, English, and Greek, the languages used by the people on their team. Everything was going to get interesting in Beacon Hills for the next while.

---

Stiles dropped back onto the grass of the small clearing in the Preserve. He felt alive after the run he had been on. The whole of the Preserve finally felt clear of the damage done by the trapped Nogitsune. Being in the Preserve was helping him feel better about it all. He snagged the bottle of water he dropped onto the grass when he had made it into the clearing.

The sun was not shining at the moment, hidden behind darker clouds that spoke of the storm that was building in the area now that everything was clear. The rain would wash away the rest of the problems.

With the first crack of thunder came the sound of a running wolf. Stiles didn't even look to the side as the wolf tried to stop but failed.

"Sourwolf, you are the worst wolf for stopping. That you have Cora doing it as well makes me laugh. Was there something that happened between Laura born and you being born that just fucked with your ability to run?"

Derek dropped onto Stiles in retaliation for the slight against him. The rain started to come down, but a simple spell made a bubble that kept them dry. Stiles dug his hand into the dirt for a few seconds, feeling the pulsing from the Nemeton. It was happy, and once the storm was gone, there would be flowers growing everywhere.

This was the cleanse the county needed, and the storm might stick around for days, but Stiles was okay with that. He loved the rain, and Beacon County didn't get enough of it in his mind. He had looked at the county's weather over the years when looking into the damage done to it by the Nogitsune who had been trapped there.

"Cora's just an asshole," Derek said after he stretched to get used to his body after being in wolf form. "She likes to make fun of me, but now she's done it so long, she's forgotten how to stop."

Stiles laughed and reached down to thread his fingers through Derek's hair. "How upset is your mother?"

"She's not happy, but she also doesn't want you guys to stay here. I can't...Stiles, I can't leave you."

"I know. It's okay. If we blow up, my aunt and my parents have already promised that you won't be trapped in Poland."

"We won't blow up." Derek turned from where his head was on Stiles' stomach to where he was draped all down Stiles' side, throwing his arm over Stiles' stomach.

Stiles inhaled and exhaled. He hadn't ever found someone he connected with like he did Derek. He wasn't going to let him go.

Every current in Stiles' magic and in the earth screamed at him to never let Derek go, and he didn't intend to.

The End
