Fandom: Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters
Rating: General Audiences
Length: 161
Summary: There are nights best spent away from the hunt.

In the wild wet world outside, the rain impacts on the glass like particularly damp artillery. It is dark outside, dark enough that only the first instants of an outline of each of the droplets are illuminated, before they soften and join the sheeting wet that covers the outside world. The fireplace in the far wall is dying back to embers, the nearby lantern's candle down to less than half its length. A distant round of laughter breaks out at the card table, where cards lie abandoned and tankards overflow.

They are flush with coin, the wilds nearest this town liberated of the witch scourge. They are warm, and dry, and mostly comfortable; Gretel's mouth stings still, and Hansel's palm is carefully bandaged - small enough wounds, to walk away with. The children are safe, with their parents and kin. The wind howls, but they are sheltered. These are the kind of nights best spent away from the hunt, for once.
