"Mike..." Donna said in that way that meant she knew something was up.

"Hey," Mike said back without getting back to his feet.

Donna peered at him. "Whatcha doin'?"

"Looking for the pen I dropped."

"Down a gateway to hell under my desk?" She sounded skeptical.

Mike shrugged. "It rolled really far under there. Might be a lost cause. I'll just get a new one." He rose, trying to play it off like nothing.

Donna glared. "What were you doing at my desk?"

Busted.

Maybe.

Probably.

"Getting my pen."

That glare didn't let up at all. How did she and Harvey both do that?

Mike sighed. "Fine. I was sent to look for that thing that's in your desk, but I didn't know you locked everything up when you left."

Donna narrowed her eyes. "Which thing, Mike?"

"You know what, nevermind. I'll just tell Louis I couldn't find it."

The look Donna gave him did not say nice things. Mike shimmied around the edge of the desk and took off down the hall at a very brisk pace.
