summary: Jakub goes home.

The first thing Jakub does, getting home, is hide the door. Exhaustion pulls at his bones, but he fixes the wallpaper, carefully pressing it back so the seam doesn't show.

They'd played music to celebrate the creature's end. Jakub'd chimed in, awkwardly switching the lever back and forth so it rattled in tune. He tried not to think of the lights blinking on and off elsewhere in the ruins.

He eyes his own chair with suspicion. Should he get a rug?

In the end, he leaves the lamp on, and listens to the clock tick down the seconds until dark.
