Title: all of that goodness is gone with you now
Fandom: Game of Thrones
Rating: General Audiences
Length: 249
Pairing: Elia Martell/Rhaella Targaryen
Summary: The maidenvault was built for bitter, paranoid men like Aerys,

A return to her confinement in the maidenvault – Rhaella had thought – no, she had known even then that she could not depend upon such hope, Aerys always took it ill when she expressed hopes about his acts and manner – but she had hoped to not set foot again, for the last time she was bound by its walls to be the last time she would.

Her rooms had not been changed, when last she was released. Had not dared to ask. And yet, she had been granted liberties. The Red Keep itself, and not Kings Landing, but a princess of House Targaryen - Rhaella is Queen by dint of her marriage, but little more than a princess in power - has little cause to set foot in the squalor the covers the city that Aegon landed upon.

She can, truthfully, think of no act that caused the reversal of her circumstances, beyond her king’s worsening regard. That is enough. He is the king.

And Rhaella is not alone. Her son's Dornish wife has recently delivered a Dornish child - Rhaenys is a delight - and that had stung the King's Targaryen pride. Never mind that their great-grandmother was a Dayne of Starfall, and her mother a Martell in turn. Elia, Lorenza's daughter, being a princess twice over, is granted the honor of a suite beside her own.

And Elia is, without the field of court and courtiers to stifle her every moment, revealed to be a charming young woman.
