Summary: Maedhros contemplates the nature of traps

Valinor is not a trap, for all it might feel like one sometimes. Angband was a trap many times over. That bottle-valley near Himring that caught too many of ours until we learned how to trap the yrch instead. High King Fingolfin's "Oh, incidentally," addendums were nearly always traps of one kind or another, if rarely personally perilous. All of Doriath had been a trap. Beleriand had been rife with traps. Aman has no inescapable bottle-valleys; Thingol and Melian's woods no longer hold the traveller spell-bound. But Beleriand itself had felt free until near the end. Valinor somehow does not.

Very telling!
I like the idea of Fingolfin's addendums.
And how that bottle-valley has a whole story attached to it!
