Summary: Hera is a queen terrible and magnanimous.

Hera sends Lena the gift of a swan. Strong-winged and sibilant, it is a queenly bird, fit for the celebration of the upcoming birth – heroes and princes, from her womb will come in turn.

Mother she will be, too, of war and glory. And if those are not precisely Hera's domains ... well. There is more than enough of war to go around.

 

The delivery is made in a box of white polar, garland with and carved with leaves of oak, gentle and quiet as the touch of Helios' chariot on the distant horizon. Inside, the heavy bird sleeps, beak tucked to pure unblemished chest.
