  • Feb. 19th, 2022 at 11:15 PM
Title: Bravery, Fear, and Love
Fandom: Mulan (1998)
Rating: T
Length: 80
Content notes: N/A
Author's notes: A Double Etheree poem
Summary: They call her brave

Brave,
she's called.
Brave to fight.
Brave to court war.
Brave to take his place.
She's never felt that brave,
hoping to go unnoticed,
stumbling from training to battle,
rushing from devastation to war.
She went because there was no better choice.
Motivated by fear, not bravery:
fear for her father, for her fam'ly.
She knew the risks she was taking,
the consequences if caught.
Not going sounded worse:
fright'ning, heartbreaking.
Fear spurred her on,
not brav'ry.
Fear, and
love.

this is wonderful! And I enjoyed reading it backwards too, I love when a poem can do that :D

Very well done!! And so true, not just for Mulan but for many we would consider brave.
