Tarot: Poetry: The Fool

  • Feb. 1st, 2022 at 9:14 PM
Title: The Fool
Fandom: Tarot
Rating: G
Length: 82
Notes: The Fool is sometimes placed after the World card in Tarot, and often placed before the Magician; in this poem the Fool precedes the Magician.
Summary: A poem based on the Fool card from Tarot. Inspired by the Marseille and Rider-Waite-Smith depictions of the Fool. And also the Fool card from the Halloween Tarot by Kipling West.

I raise my foot
And don’t know when I’ll put it down.
My father says
He didn’t raise me to be a clown.
But I heard that all the world’s a stage
So my eyebrows raise
And my mouth pulls down.
I thought that all the world’s a stage
Until I met a magus, mage.

Their magic was no circus trick
Lightning when they raised their stick
Pigs can fly,
So why can’t I?
I took the leap for freedom high-
flying.
