There's this moment between sleeping and waking, fleeting and futile. A precious moment where she finds reprieve, short-lived. Arising in the space between. Before opening her eyes when everything feels - just fine.

Bad things feel like a faded dream. Wrong things seem like a foolhardy practical joke someone's played on the world.

Sometimes she lingers in this liminal space. Mornings turn into afternoons turn into evenings. Rolling over and falling back under. Over and over again. Eventually, she drags herself out of bed and the only joke is the one the powers that be are playing on all the world.
