"Um, Pete - whatcha doing?"

Peter looked up, briefly, at Tony, then back to his project. "School thing."

"Uh huh. What kind of 'school thing'?"

He made sure a wire was grounded, then glanced up again, this time with a frown. "Are you feeling okay?" There is no way Tony should have needed to ask him what he was doing. It was pretty simple and pretty obvious.

Tony's expression was flat. "Fine. You didn't answer my question."

Peter waved a hand. "What does it look like?" He didn't even sound snarky or sassy.

"It looks like you're making a mess of my lab with little pieces of stripped wire that you'd better clean up before you leave or I'm kicking you off the team."

Peter hrmphed and turned back to his project, muttering, "Bet you don't make Thor clean up. Or Captain America."

"You'd be surprised, kid. And the lightbulb will work better if you turn the switch the other way."

To prove him wrong, Peter flipped the switch on the set-up and the lightbulb came to life just as expected. "You sure about that?"

"Okay, smartypants." Tony smirked. "Is that all you're setting up for this project that's destroying my lab?"

Peter rolled his eyes. "I'm not destroying it. And no. There's more. This is part one. You can stay and help if you want."

"You won't learn anything that way." Tony waved a hand. "Carry on."

"Want me to call you if I set anything on fire?"

"Nah. Dum-E'll handle it." Then Tony left.

Peter's phone pinged with a text message a few moments later: 'But call the fire department just in case.'
