Lara knows she’s lucky – luckier than most of her compatriots. She has to be, to keep herself alive in the face of trapped tombs and cults and, quite honestly, all too often an unreasonably hostile bout of weather. Scars aside, she chalks still having all her extremities attached down to a miracle. That, or one of the lucky trinkets her father had collected for her had some power after all.

And alongside the danger, there’s the discovery. Not as much as she could hope –  multiple lost civilizations aside - but more than most globe trotting archeologists could wish for in their wildest dreams. She's too late for most of it, is the problem. People die, cities fall, and nature comes around to reclaim it all.

The ocean of time is damn near like a pressure hose, some days. Onwards, always onwards; washing away detail and sometimes entirely obliterating all trace of a thousandfold storied tapestry. Still, she's alive; and there's always tomorrow.
