Umi’s first attempts at making clothing the ‘Cephiran’ way – that was, with fabric and magic, not a needle – were… interesting. She’d asked a few questions when she started changing the furniture in the rooms the Knights shared, mostly to see if she could, so she knew it was easiest to start with the materials there rather than conjuring from thin air – easy though Clef made that look.

She had got hold of some fabric – it was silver, very soft, and very shiny. She could imagine it as a set of robes, and set her magic to making them – only when her power faded away she had what looked like a set of robes, only it was one flat piece of fabric, no way to put it on or get herself inside it.

The second attempt came out mostly the same, the third – attempting to fix the others – came out with three sleeves, none of which opened into the actual body of the robe.

“Huh,” she said, sitting back and pulling a face. “That’s… not right.”

She could go and ask Clef what she’d messed up, but…

Well. Maybe she would see if any of the academy teachers were going to be talking about creating items soon and wander over, instead.
