Title: trying to find the start is like trying to reach the stars

Summary: The hallway she entered Trench's office from is not quite the same as the one Jesse stepped back into.

"So," and how to phrase this? It's an ... odd issue. Admittedly, it is a problem Jesse'd had (and faced and overcome) any number of times, but usually one with a human cause behind which ever variation of said problem she faced, and generally had human help on hand (or call) to resolve it, even if that help was only ten minutes spent demonstrating the use of lock-picks. She can only hope the latter will follow the tentative trend. (Not that she thinks Emily isn't human, her employment notwithstanding ... but she is part of the FBC, and that, in Jesse's experience, is no indication of humanity.) "How do we get out of here, exactly?"

"Through the front door." The wan, wry twist of her mouth is more amused than any Jesse has previously seen Emily express, but still not particularly happy. Not that she can blame her. Living in a conference room is bad enough, without the nonperishable safe room food and the tepid, tasteless water that the bathrooms insist on. Sleeping in a HRA can't be all that comfortable either. "All access to the lobby area disappeared when lockdown was initiated, to ensure containment." Tilts her head - not like a bird. Like ... something. Something inquisitive. "Which ... has started working on you?” Jesse curtly nods confirmation. Her Sector trans-warp ability doesn't work without control points. Not without Polaris. Emily settles back into her chair - better than even odds it's going to turn up in her office, when she gets out of Executive and actually gets one - poised as if she's giving a presentation. Maybe she is. “If it hasn't, then we still have a Hiss infestation."

In fairness, (and despite her growing annoyance, Jesse will be fair, when it comes to one Emily Pope,) she had taken out a trio outside the Director’s – her – office. They’re hardly gone. Still, Jesse is getting closer and closer to being willing to kill to see proper sky, with weather and clouds and sunshine. Black Rock quarry's ... expanse doesn't count. (And yes, technically Hiss's host are still - but that's not - that doesn't count. As much.)
