Summary: Kate instantly regretted her life choices as she stepped into the kitchen.

Kate instantly regretted her life choices as she stepped into the kitchen. She shook her head. “Nope.” Why couldn’t she have just gone out for pizza? Pizza was good. Pizza was beautiful, tasty and most importantly pizza didn’t have Quentin Quire standing at the kitchen counter wearing only boxer shorts and a ripped t-shirt as he made his lunch.

“Quentin, what are you doing?”

He turned around. “Making a peanut butter, fluff, strawberry jam, and pickle sandwich. Why, did you want one?”

Kate shook her head, she’d tasted one of Quentin’s odd sandwich concoctions before and she was never doing that again. Ever. “Where are your pants?”

“Jeff.” Quentin turned back around and continued his sandwich-making process.

“Jeff?” Kate glanced around the room looking for signs of the cute little land shark but sadly it was only her and Quentin in the kitchen. “What, Jeff has your pants?”

“Yup.”

“Okay, so why don’t you go get them back?”

“Can’t, he ate them.”

“You have other pants, Quentin. For the love of all the gods, go put on another pair - any pair.” Kate ran her hand through her hair. “Just clothe yourself.” She didn’t need this crap. Not today, not any day really.

Quentin turned around, casually leaned against the counter, and took a bite of his sandwich. It was like none of this mattered to him at all.

“Please, just put on some pants.”

“Why is this so important to you? Are you uncomfortable in the face of all this awesomeness?” Quentin stuck a pose and gave her a wink.

“No.” Kate closed her eyes. Why the hell had she let Quentin join the team? It had probably seemed like a good idea at the time but right now she was drawing a blank on all the reasons she shouldn’t kick him out.

Because I’m an Omega level telepath and you’re all amazingly lucky to have me here. You’d all be so lost without me and you know it, Bishop. Quentin said in her head.

He was right, of course. Quentin might be a lot to handle even on a good day, but he was also immensely powerful and he was a good teammate when he actually listened to her and wasn’t being an ass. Not that she was going to tell him that.

Kate opened her eyes and shook her head. “You keep telling yourself that Quire.” She turned her back to him. “I’m going out for pizza. You better be fully dressed by the time I get back.”

She was going to eat some amazingly awesome pizza at her favorite pizzeria and then she was going to try to scrub this whole experience with Quentin from her brain.
