Summary: It’s always the same song, when Jesse arrives at the motel.

She pulls the cord a third time, and the light ... flickers. It always does. It's a comforting surety, just as the motel itself is a moment of peace between two places where danger and duties lurk like elastabundles in shallow water.

Even with the blinds drawn, the Motel is the closest to the outside world - or perhaps, just the outdoors - that Jesse is likely to get with the internal lockdown in place, and while the lobby is impersonal, it is still, in a way, more human than anything else she has found in the Oldest House. Like lazy afternoons spent confined indoors, the tedium of redoing a solved puzzle with missing pieces.

The radio buzzes on the counter, the same tune as always.
